He has been involved in freestyle wrestling since childhood, but in 2001, while living in Minnesota, he began his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey under the guidance of excellent coach Greg Nelson. While training in Minnesota, he learned MMA-oriented grappling, classic Gracie Jiu Jitsu, Shooto, Catch Wrestling and Combat Submission Wrestling styles. In 2012, he became the first Latvian to obtain a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Returning to Latvia, he opened his own wrestling club, where to this day he continues to transfer knowledge to Latvian athletes and wrestling enthusiasts. Extensive experience in competitions: professional MMA fights, multiple Latvian champion in freestyle wrestling, as well as various Brazilian jiu jitsu and grappling tournaments.

Since childhood, he has been engaged in various contact sports, of which Taekwondo can be highlighted, more than 5 years of training was devoted to this style. He found a special passion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and, since 2018, he began to develop his grappling skills and comprehend this complicated art of wrestling.

Practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2019. Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, specialized in Health Sports (Rīga Stradiņš University). Completed 1st level higher education in “Health Sports Specialist” with a fitness trainer qualification. An experienced and attentive coach with a personal approach to each student. Father of four — well aware of the importance of discipline, patience, and individual attention.

Practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over three years, during which time he has competed in international tournaments in Berlin and London, earning medals in his weight and age categories in both Gi and No-Gi divisions. For the past two years, he has been actively working with children: assisting in kids’ classes, helping organize competitions, and accompanying young athletes to away tournaments, where his students consistently achieve podium finishes. In addition to working with children, he also prepares adult students for their blue belt exams.

Involved in various sports since childhood, including swimming and team sports. Actively practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2021 and regularly competing in international tournaments. Combines discipline, creativity, and confidence-building in his coaching approach, leading sessions that are both challenging and exciting for children. With a background in sports and pedagogy, he creates a safe and supportive environment where every young athlete has the opportunity to grow, have fun, and begin a lifelong journey in sport.
